A bit about The Furze

I was born in Stamford, Lincolnshire in 1979, where I grew up with my Mum, Dad and big sister Ellie. Right from being young I would make things out of Lego and junk. My Mum fostered cats for The Cats Protection, so there were always a few cats and kittens and I remember making them a hotel out of a box. I was also very fortunate to live on the boarder of an old quarry site, and this became my playground. With friends we made dens good enough to sleep in! BMX riding was my main interest in my youth, and it was videoing myself and friends doing our flatland tricks that started me off filming. The footage was put on a VHS that we then took in turns and passed round to watch. So you can imagine that when youtube came about, it was pretty amazing that not only could me and my friends watch our video whenever we wanted, we could also share it with ANYONE!
I left school at 16 and started a plumbing apprenticeship, where I met Rick who often helps me now create some of the bigger projects. During this time I also enjoyed maintaining my BMX and making stuff (in my bedroom). When I learnt to drive I would also set out to fix my car myself and even changed the engine on my trusty Hilux. The old engine was then turned into a coffee table.
I bought my first house with my girlfriend Charlotte in 2009, and the high priority was to get building my shed. It's at the side of our house and it's important for me to continue to keep my shed space typical of what many people can achieve in their own back garden. I want everyone to feel that they could have a go at making stuff too.
I remained as a plumber until 2011 where I had a presenting/making role on a series called Gadget Geeks on Sky1. At this point my Youtube channel was doing pretty well and I took the decision to concentrate on it full time. From that point on the Colin Furze Channel has continued to grow, and I'm very lucky to be able to do what I love for a living. Thank you to all that support my channel by watching the videos and subscribing.
